How to Register for the 2024-25 (NEXT) School Year

Welcome to the San Carlos School District! We are excited to help guide you through the process of registering your child.

The San Carlos School District includes eight TK-8th grade schools - Arundel, Brittan Acres, Heather & White Oaks Elementary Schools, Arroyo & Mariposa Upper Elementary Schools, and Central & Tierra Linda Middle Schools. In addition, we have fee-based, Early Learning Centers/Preschools on each elementary school campus. SCSD serves families residing in most neighborhoods of San Carlos.

The information on this page explains the process for registering all new incoming Transitional Kindergarten / Kindergarten - 8th Grade students. NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR THE 2024-25 SCHOOL YEAR

STEP 2 - Verify Residency

The San Carlos School District is open to all age-eligible students who live within the boundaries of the San Carlos School District. Please note that the school district boundaries are not identical to the civic boundaries of the City of San Carlos — please see our School Boundaries page to verify your address and find your assigned school.

We no longer accept registration for students who reside outside of the SCSD boundaries. If you are interested in transferring into SCSD from another school district, please see our Transfer Requests page for more information on the Interdistrict (Out-of-District) Transfer process.

STEP 3 - Verify Grade Level Eligibility

For the 2024-25 school year, students are eligible to enter the following grade levels based on their birthdate:

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) - if they have reached 5 years of age on or between September 2, 2024 – June 2, 2025.
Kindergarten - if they have reached 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2024.

Notes:

Students are not eligible to enter Kindergarten or TK for the 2024-25 school year if they are not 5 years old by June 2, 2025. They will be eligible to enroll in Kindergarten the following school year.
Preschool students currently enrolled in one of our SCSD preschools must still complete the registration process to be enrolled in TK or Kindergarten for next year. If your child is currently enrolled in one of our SCSD preschool classes, they are not yet a matriculated student and are required to register for TK/Kindergarten.
TK students currently enrolled in SCSD do not need to re-register for Kindergarten as they are already enrolled in our District and will be automatically enrolled in Kindergarten.
New students entering grades 1-8: Will be placed in a grade level based on their DOB.

STEP 4 - Gather Required Registration Documents

Before starting your online registration, gather all required documents to upload during the registration process.

STEP 5 - Complete PowerSchool Registration During Priority Registration Period - January 9-February 9, 2024

New Student Priority Registration Period opens on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 and ends on Friday, February 9, 2024. We strongly recommend families register during this timeframe. All completed registrations received during the Priority Registration Period will receive priority into their home school if space is available.

Students registering AFTER the February 9, 2024 deadline will be placed on a space-available basis.

New families are required to create a PowerSchool Enrollment account and register students online. If you are a current SCSD family and are registering a new student you may log in to PowerSchool using your email or phone number to register.

IMPORTANT! Please be sure to choose the correct school year before beginning your registration - you are registering for the 2024-2025 (NEXT) school year. Do not register for the 2023-2024 (CURRENT) school year. Please ensure you are registering for the correct school year or you will have to start over. Click on the button below to begin your registration.

STEP 6 - Visit Your School for a TK/K Parent Information Meeting on January 31, 2024

Families can learn more about their child’s school by attending a TK/K Parent Information Meeting on Wednesday, January 31:

8:00 - 8:45 am at Arundel & White Oaks
4:00 - 4: 30 pm at Brittan Acres & Heather

Please check your school’s website for more information in December 2023.

STEP 7 - Receive Registration Confirmation

After you have completed your pre-registration, schools will review your information and contact you if needed.
A second email with additional instructions and access to complete the online registration process in PowerSchool (InfoSnap) will be sent to you in the Spring.
Additional health forms due after registration should be submitted to your school office, not the District Office.

Intradistrict Transfer Requests for SCSD Residents Wishing To Transfer to Another School Within SCSD

If you would like to request a transfer to another school within SCSD, you must first register for your homeschool and then request an Intradistrict Transfer. The Intradistrict Transfer Form will open on Wednesday, February 1, 2024 at 12:00 pm noon. For more information on the process, please visit our Transfer Requests page.
