Registering New Students for the 2024-25 School Year
Welcome to the San Carlos School District! Although all school offices will close for the summer on June 21, you can still register new students online through PowerSchool Enrollment. After you register, your neighborhood school will contact you with final confirmation once they reopen on Wednesday, August 7.

Important Notice:

We have limited space and high demand for Transitional Kindergarten (TK), 2nd grade, 5th grade, and 8th grade. Student placement will be based on a first-come, first-served basis, so if your child is registering for one of these grade levels, please register ASAP. Interdistrict Transfer Requests:

Transferring Into the San Carlos School District: Apply for an Interdistrict Transfer at your home school district, they will forward your request to our Registration department. Due to limited summer staffing, your request may not be processed until August. We do not accept transfers after the first day of school and all waitlists expire.
Transferring Out of the San Carlos School District: Complete the Interdistrict Transfer form to leave SCSD form and email it back to us at [email protected].

Welcome to the San Carlos School District! We are excited to help guide you through the process of registering your child.

The San Carlos School District includes eight TK-8th grade schools - Arundel, Brittan Acres, Heather & White Oaks Elementary Schools, Arroyo & Mariposa Upper Elementary Schools, and Central & Tierra Linda Middle Schools. In addition, we have fee-based, Early Learning Centers/Preschools on each elementary school campus. SCSD serves families residing in most neighborhoods of San Carlos.

The information on this page explains the process for registering all new incoming Transitional Kindergarten / Kindergarten - 8th Grade students. STEP 2 - Verify Residency

The San Carlos School District is open to all age-eligible students who live within the boundaries of the San Carlos School District. Please note that the school district boundaries are not identical to the civic boundaries of the City of San Carlos — please see our School Boundaries page to verify your address and find your assigned school.

We no longer accept registration for students who reside outside of the SCSD boundaries. If you are interested in transferring into SCSD from another school district, please see our Transfer Requests page for more information on the Interdistrict (Out-of-District) Transfer process.

STEP 3 - Verify Grade Level Eligibility

For the 2024-25 school year, students are eligible to enter the following grade levels based on their birthdate:

Transitional Kindergarten (TK) - if they have reached 5 years of age on or between September 2, 2024 – June 2, 2025.
Kindergarten - if they have reached 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2024.

Notes:

Students are not eligible to enter Kindergarten or TK for the 2024-25 school year if they are not 5 years old by June 2, 2025. They will be eligible to enroll in Kindergarten the following school year.
Preschool students currently enrolled in one of our SCSD preschools must still complete the registration process to be enrolled in TK or Kindergarten for next year. If your child is currently enrolled in one of our SCSD preschool classes, they are not yet a matriculated student and are required to register for TK/Kindergarten.
TK students currently enrolled in SCSD do not need to re-register for Kindergarten as they are already enrolled in our District and will be automatically enrolled in Kindergarten.
New students entering grades 1-8: Will be placed in a grade level based on their DOB.

STEP 4 - Gather Required Registration Documents

Before starting your online registration, gather all required documents to upload during the registration process.

STEP 5 - Complete PowerSchool Registration

New Student Priority Registration Period was January 9 - February 9, 2024. All completed registrations received during the Priority Registration Period receive priority into their home school if space is available.

Students registering AFTER the February 9, 2024 deadline will be placed on a space-available basis.

New families are required to create a PowerSchool Enrollment account and register students online. If you are a current SCSD family and are registering a new student you may log in to PowerSchool using your email or phone number to register.

IMPORTANT!

Please be sure to choose the correct school year before beginning your registration.
Confirm you are registering for the 2024-2025 school year or you will have to start over.

CURRENT TK-7TH GRADE STUDENTS DO NOT NEED TO RE-REGISTER,
this is only for incoming students who will be NEW to the district next year (August 2024).

STEP 6 - Receive Registration Confirmation (click to pull down)

After you have completed your pre-registration, schools will review your information and contact you if needed.
A second email with additional instructions and access to complete the online registration process in PowerSchool (InfoSnap) will be sent to you in the Spring.
Additional health forms due after registration should be submitted to your school office, not the District Office.

Intradistrict Transfer Requests for SCSD Residents Wishing To Transfer to Another School Within SCSD
