Objectives for Middle School Student Sports:
Our middle school sports program is designed to introduce students to school sports. Every participating student will:
- Increase his/her physical skills and abilities through challenging and competitive play
- Feel he/she plays an important role on the team and will learn and demonstrate increased skills in collaboration
- Have an opportunity to play, learn and demonstrate important concepts of teamwork
- Engage in positive sportsmanship throughout the season
- Demonstrate civility and represent the team, coach, and SCSD in a respectful manner
- Show increased knowledge of the sport
Please note: SCSD Middle School Sports are not designed to offer high-level competitive training associated with club sports, and there is no correlation or intention to prepare students specifically for high school team eligibility.
Team configuration: Students participating in Volleyball, Flag Football, and Basketball will tryout for a spot on one SCSD “A” team, or one “B” team for each grade. “A” and “B” teams will participate in the Art David Athletic League (detailed below). Other sports allow everyone to participate in league competition, but students will be evaluated to determine which level of competition is suitable depending on the event.
