Outdoor Education

The SCSD Strategic Plan calls for developing student commitment to environmental stewardship by taking action to promote sustainability in our schools and community while delving into science-based health and environmental issues.

SCSD offers a number of “Outdoor Ed” programs where students are able to use nature as the classroom. Often these are week-long trips with classmates to learn about the natural world, explore the forest and beach ecosystems, and work together as a community. The 5th Grade trip to Jones Gulch is provided in partnership with the San Mateo County Office of Education.
