Community Engagement

BONDS v Parcel Tax image

Bonds vs. Parcel Taxes: What’s the difference?

Both provide important local funding for San Carlos schools—but they support very different things.

BONDS = BUILDINGS
Bond funding, such as Measure H, supports long-term improvements to school facilities, including classrooms, roofs, windows, HVAC systems and modernization projects.

PARCEL TAXES = PEOPLE + PROGRAMS
Parcel tax funding supports ongoing educational programs and services, including teachers and academic programs that directly support students.

As we look ahead to the upcoming parcel tax renewal, we want our community to understand how local school funding works—and why these two funding sources are not interchangeable.

Spaces Available in our San Carlos Early Learning Preschool Program

Did you know San Carlos School District offers preschool programs for 2 and 3 year olds? We also have several options so families can choose the program that best fits their needs. We have early learning/preschool classes on all of our elementary campuses — Arundel, Brittan Acres, Heather & White Oaks. It’s a wonderful way to get to know your incoming school community and start building friendships early!

State-funded preschool spots are available now at Arundel, FREE for eligible families. Your family may qualify for our free, state-funded preschool program, and we can help determine eligibility. For example, a family of four earning up to $127,338 per year may qualify.

Superintendent's Message

Welcome to the San Carlos School District, where joyful learning is rooted in strong relationships, a commitment to the whole child, and a shared vision for student success. Our Profile of a Learner is at the heart of everything we do—guiding how we nurture critical thinking, resilience, curiosity, and belonging in every student. This work is made possible by our exceptional teachers and staff, whose dedication and expertise create engaging, inclusive classrooms where all students can thrive.

We are proud to see the impact of this collective effort reflected in strong student outcomes, including continued growth on statewide assessments. These results, along with high levels of student engagement and attendance, speak to the strength of our programs and the meaningful relationships that define our schools. Our supportive families and broader community play an essential role in this success, partnering with us to create a learning environment where students feel connected, confident, and inspired each day.

At the same time, we remain focused on the future. Through our Facilities Master Plan, we are making important investments in our campuses—including modernized classrooms and upgraded HVAC systems—to ensure safe, comfortable, and innovative learning environments for all. Together, as a community, we are building a strong foundation for the future—one where every student is known, supported, and prepared to succeed.

With appreciation,
