School Board Meetings

By law, meetings involving a majority of the School Board members must be held in public, with an agenda published in advance. School Board meetings are typically held once a month on a Thursday, though additional meetings may be scheduled, and times or dates are subject to change. Under specific circumstances—such as discussions related to personnel matters, labor negotiations, or legal issues—the Board may hold a “closed session,” which is not open to the public

Meeting Schedule

School Board meetings usually begin with an open session at 6:30 pm, followed by a closed session, unless otherwise noted. Meetings are held at the SCSD District Office, 1200 Industrial Road, Unit 9B, San Carlos. Zoom teleconferencing is also available as an option for participation. Meeting Records and Summaries

All board meetings are currently video-recorded via Zoom. Recordings are typically available within 24 hours of the meeting. To view audio and video recordings on Vimeo, click here. Action minutes are approved at subsequent meetings, and a brief summary of the meeting is distributed to the community afterward. Public Participation

The District and Board are committed to ensuring that the public has the opportunity to be heard, raise concerns, and follow the resolution of issues.

• In-person Participation: Please complete a blue “speaking card” and submit it to the Board Secretary before the meeting begins.
• Virtual Participation: Use the Zoom "raise hand" feature during the relevant agenda item. If joining by phone, press *9 to raise your hand.

Members of the public may address the Board on any topic, even if it is not listed on the current agenda. However, the Board is legally restricted in its ability to discuss or act on non-agenda items during the meeting, as per the Brown Act, California’s open meeting law. During special meetings, the Board will not hear comments on non-agenda items. Each public speaker is allotted three minutes to speak. Speakers are also welcome to distribute materials to the Board or staff for consideration.
