Upper Elementary Philosophy 4th and 5th graders are beyond pre-K-3rd learners, but they don’t yet have the adolescent development needs of middle school learners. During this learning stage, students are strengthening their cognitive, social, emotional and physical development. Upper Elementary schools support this age group by being designed with flexibility and collaboration in mind; including physical challenges and opportunities; and developing leadership skills so students can explore in service to the school and community.
