Community Engagement

Once again I write to you on behalf of the SCSD Board of Trustees with a heavy heart, as members of yet another community in our school district are victims of persecution and hate-filled violence. SCSD School Board members and I wish to firmly condemn these acts. We are alarmed at the rise of racist behaviors and attacks against members of these communities. Violent anti-Asian sentiment has been building for years and surged over the past year amid racist scapegoating that has blamed Asians for the coronavirus pandemic. We must stand together with our Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) community and condemn all acts of violence at this time and continue to work together to end all forms of racial violence.
