We are pleased to announce that the SCSD Board appointed three principals at the board meeting last night.
First, we want to thank the many volunteers who served on several panels of teachers, parents, classified staff and administrators to conduct interviews over the past two months. Our administrative team skillfully facilitated a thorough interview process and led thoughtful discussions about the strengths and qualities of the candidates. Selected finalists were moved forward to the District Cabinet team for consideration. Each appointee was carefully considered and each brings with them varied experiences that will contribute greatly to the success of their schools and to our newly formed leadership team. We congratulate all three principal appointees and know you will join us in giving them all a warm welcome to the San Carlos School District community!
Catherine Waslif, Brittan Acres Elementary School
Catherine began her career teaching middle school at St. Matthew’s Catholic School in San Mateo then spent the following 23 years in Milpitas Unified School District. She taught 4th – 6th grades and middle school English. She also taught English as a second language. She served as an Assistant Principal at Spangler Elementary and Sinnott Elementary Schools. While serving as the Principal of William Burnett Elementary School, Burnett received both the California Distinguished School award and the Title I Academic Achievement Award. After five years at Burnett, Catherine served as the Director of Educational Services where she implemented district-wide categorical programs including the English Language Development program. For the last four years Catherine has been Spangler Elementary Principal.
