SCSD has a long history of focus on the arts and has extensive programs in instrumental music, choral music, visual arts, and drama. A majority of our students take advantage of one or more of these programs, most of whom have no prior experience. The focus on the arts is an integral part of our Whole Child approach by embracing the emotional, social, physical, cognitive, academic, and technical elements of discipline in the arts. Our programs are very much aligned with our
Strategic Plan for 21st Century Learning as these programs require an emphasis on communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and problem solving.
