NEW STUDENT REGISTRATION FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR
 
The San Carlos School District will be opening the first window of registration for NEW students enrolling for the 2020-2021 school year, starting on November 1, 2019. This registration window is open until February 28, 2020 and parents may register at anytime during this period.
 
STEP ONE - VERIFY GRADE LEVEL ELIGIBILITY
  • Transitional Kindergarten (TK) if they have reached 5 years of age on or between September 2 – December 2, 2020 (TK students currently enrolled in SCSD do not need to register for kindergarten as they are already registered. See Current Students section below.)
  • Kindergarten if they have reached 5 years of age on or before September 1, 2020
    • Students who do not turn 5 by December 2, 2020 are not eligible to enter Kindergarten or TK for the 2020-2021 school year.
  • Grades 1-8: Will be placed in the grade following the last one they attended, or according to their age if it is their first time attending public school in the United States.
 
STEP TWO - VERIFY RESIDENCY
Please see the District/School Boundaries page to verify your location within the San Carlos School District, know which school zone your property is in, and understand our enrollment preferences.
 
STEP THREE - DOWNLOAD AND COMPLETE REQUIRED REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS
Before your registration appointment, please download and complete the SCSD Registration Form and the Home Language Survey and bring all required registration documents with you, see side panel for document PDFs. Incomplete student registration packets will not be accepted.
 
REQUIRED REGISTRATION DOCUMENTS:
    1. SCSD Registration Form TK-8 Grade
    2. Home Language Survey
    3. Original Birth Certificate, passport, attested baptism certificate, statement by local registrar or county recorder certifying date of birth, or affidavit of parent, guardian, or custodian of minor certifying date of birth
    4. Current Proof of Residency (current property tax or rental agreement) AND two current utility bills from different sources (for example PG&E, Recology, Comcast, California Water Service)
    5. Immunizations (complete list of all current immunizations)
IMPORTANT: Be sure to review your registration forms for accuracy and bring all original documents and one set of copies to your appointment, this will expedite the process greatly.
 
STEP FOUR - MAKE A REGISTRATION APPOINTMENT
To begin your registration, please make an appointment to register your child by visiting our Registration Appointment Calendar and choosing a date and time that works for you. Appointments are available Monday-Friday 8:30-11:30 am and 2:30-4:00 pm at the San Carlos School District Office, 1200 Industrial Road, Unit 9. The registration process is centralized at the District Office for all schools except the San Carlos Charter Learning Center (please visit their website for registration procedures). Please do NOT go to individual schools to register.
 
  • CURRENT SCSD STUDENTS
    If your child is a currently enrolled in TK-8th grade in one of our San Carlos School District schools, you are NOT required to re-register during this time; an email with your child’s InfoSnap code and instructions will be emailed to you in April for you to re-register your child.
  • CURRENT SCSD PRESCHOOL FAMILIES MUST REGISTER
    If your child is currently enrolled in one of our San Carlos Preschools, they are not yet a matriculated student and MUST register for TK/Kindergarten.

PARENTAL NOTIFICATION / CONFIRMATION OF SCHOOL ENROLLMENT FOR THE 2020-2021 SCHOOL YEAR
The first round of Kindergarten and Transitional Kindergarten registration will close at 4:30 pm on February 28, 2020. All completed registration packets received by this date will be included in the initial school placement for the 2020-2021 school year. 
 
School Placement Notifications will be emailed to in-district residents by the end of March 2020. Decisions are made as per Board adopted Enrollment Preference Procedures. Please note that due to staff time constraints, parents might not be notified immediately. We appreciate your patience.
 
If you have not heard from the District as to where your child was placed by March 31, 2020 and you registered between November 1, 2019 – February 28, 2020, please call our District Registrar at 650-508-7333.
 
INFOSNAP ONLINE REGISTRATION COMPLETION
At the end of April 2020, parents will receive additional instructions and access to complete the Online Registration Process using InfoSnap (our online student data entry system).
 
ADDITIONAL HEALTH FORMS DUE AFTER PLACEMENT
The CHDP Health Assessment and the Oral Health Assessment must be submitted to the school of assignment after April 2020. If your child has outstanding immunizations that are not due until their 5th birthday, please provide the most current records when you register and then provide an updated hard copy to the District Office or assigned school or email it to the school nurse by August 2020. Please note that if you do not have up-to-date immunizations before your child’s first day of school, they will not be permitted to come to school.
 
REGISTRATION AFTER FEBRUARY 28, 2020
Registration will remain open for San Carlos School District residents after March 1, 2020 and placements will be made on a first-come, first-serve basis as space becomes available.

  • Kindergarten: State law requires that to be eligible for Kindergarten in September 2020, a child must be five (5) years of age on or before September 1, 2020. Completed 2019-2020 School Year New Student Registration packets can be brought to the San Carlos School District Office, Monday-Friday between 8:30-11:30 am and 2:30-4:00 pm -  1200 Industrial Road, Unit 9.
