The 5Cs

A core element of SCSD’s Strategic Plan is a focus on the skills and conceptual tools that are critical for 21st Century learners, including the 5Cs: Critical Thinking & Problem Solving, Communication, Collaboration, Citizenship (global and local) and Creativity & Innovation. The 5Cs embody mindsets that are critical for our students to successfully participate in the contemporary and evolving workforce. The goal is to incorporate the 5Cs into all learning experiences within the district, across grade levels, subject, and other school experiences. Expression of the 5Cs will often come from project-based learning focusing on problem-solving, collaboration, critical-thinking skills, and time management skills.
